The most recent Arlington Major was a hub of new meta tryouts, unconventional picks, and epic team showdowns.

Team Spirit came out as champions that rematched PSG.LGD is in an intense grand final.

BOOM Esports, on the other hand, earned a spot in The International 11 (TI11) despite ending at the 7th-8th place.

The team won USD 12,500 in prize money thanks to their win against Team Liquid.

However, the team was unable to maintain the effort against Entity, falling 2-1 and settling for elimination from the PGL Arlington Major.

Here’s how it all unfolded.

A Strange Entity in the Way

Entity’s performance in the Arlington Major made it necessary to select an unconventional roster. Unfortunately, the guinea pig that first encountered it was Boom.

It seemed like BOOM players couldn’t find the right remedy for the first and third games despite winning the second one quite easily.

On top of the unconventional meta plays, the replacement offlaner for Entity, Joná “SabeRLight-,” made their standard plays even more difficult to read.

In fact, the fill-in SabeRLight- was so pumped that he claimed that he aimed as high as winning against Team Aster, who previously eliminated Fnatic.

Game 1

Entity chose Lycan for Tobi in game 1 and Enigma for SabeRLight-. Early on, both teams sent all five heroes into battle, and BOOM seemed to win, growing their lead to 4k.

Entity’s draft, on the other hand, had a broader teamfight scope, and one clash turned the tide of the match in its favor.

It didn’t seem like Entity was lacking a typical safelane hero because Stormstormer was dominating Tiny with both heavy burst and sustained damage.

His teammates supported him, and Entity won the first game in 33 minutes since BOOM was unable to engage in teamfighting at any point throughout the contest.

Game 2

BOOM made a systematic, thorough effort in game 2. It was like watching a clean-up squad.

It proved that Entity’s new meta is still well in the works.

This game was an example of how an Entity’s draft with two offlaners can occasionally go wrong. SabeRLight- only managed a meager 0-6-4 KDA in his time on Doom.

All of the BOOM’s players were performing great, but Yopaj stood out for his prowess on the mid Storm Spirit and contributed to the team’s 35-minute victory.

Game 3

However, the third game didn’t go well for BOOM. Unfortunately for them, Tobi’s Venomancer, who had struggled in a few of Entity’s earlier games, finally delivered in game 3.

The Entity’s position four Sven also garnered attention after ending the contest with a 7-0-17 KDA.

Perhaps the main reason was that BOOM’s draft looked way weaker in this game.

Early on, the team struggled, and they had to rely on Aghanim’s Scepter timing on JaCkky’s Bristleback to rally.

Despite all the goods it had collected, Entity was still too strong to defeat, and BOOM lost in 37 minutes.

Approaching TI11

During the Arlington Major, Entity had a distinct drafting approach due to the employment of two offlaners. This surprising tactic proved to be challenging for many other teams in the event.

Entity continues to overwhelm its opponents despite the fact that it struggles to find real carry heroes in games.

Daniel “Stormstormer” Schoetzau, the star performer for Entity, has dominated the midlane throughout the competition.

Since BOOM Esports didn’t make more progress in the Major, it might feel disappointed.

However, despite the loss, by being in the top eight, BOOM esports now has an invitation to The International 11 (TI11) later this year.

Perhaps the Arlington Major was a fair warning about the perils awaiting the team on the upcoming TI.

Although the squad has been more or less good lately, it still needs to significantly improve if it wants to recapture the momentum it had at the start of the year and have a more serious chance at TI11.
